Preetha’s organic farm: a replicable model for integrated farming system
Preetha Kumari Jayprakash is a 51-year-old successful women farmer practising integrated organic farming for the past four years. Rearing of a desi cow was her entry point in the world of organic farming. She owns organic Integrated farming in 1.33 acres of land at Pathanamthitta district of Kerala State. Her organic farm has crops like vegetables, tuber crops and banana, along with dairy, quail and poultry units. She also makes Beejaamritham, Jeevaamritham, Panchgaviyam, Fish Amino acid and Egg Amino acid at her farm. They are used as Biopesticide and Biofertilizers in farming. Ms Preetha earns a net income of Rs. 2, 45, 875 in a year as integrative farming ensures 90% of nutrient requirement through bio mass-produced in the farm itself. She bagged third prize in the Oru mural pachakkari award from the Government of Kerala in 2017, recognised as the best farmer by Eraviperoor Panchayath and Koipuram Krishi Bhavan
